CUPRA model will also be made in Győr in the future

Győr, 23 March 2022 – As a key member of the Volkswagen Group's global production network, Audi Hungaria provides a wide range of services for the Group's various brands. As a next step, the vehicle manufacturing product portfolio will be expanded in the future with the addition of a new model from a further brand of the group: From 2024, Audi Hungaria will start the production of a future SUV model of the CUPRA brand, preparations for which have already begun at the company.

“With its broad product portfolio and comprehensive range of services, Audi Hungaria is becoming a reliable partner for Volkswagen Group companies in more and more areas. We rely on the synergies within the Group and efficiently shape the capacity utilization of our vehicle plant by producing the CUPRA brand. This is a good practice for us, as our powertrains bring many Audi, Volkswagen, Skoda, SEAT, CUPRA, Bentley and Lamborghini models to life, while our tooling plant produces body components for exclusive models of the Volkswagen and Audi Groups. In addition to our products, our competence-based services for the companies of the Group worldwide are becoming increasingly important. The future production of the new CUPRA SUV model will contribute to strengthening our international position and the future viability and resilience of our vehicle production, thereby securing the long-term employment of our colleagues,” said Alfons Dintner, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria.

Audi Hungaria currently produces the Audi Q3, Q3 Sportback models as well as the mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of these vehicles. In addition, the Audi TT Coupé and TT Roadster models are also manufactured in Győr.

“We have a strong team working to deliver the project on schedule. Design activities have already begun, and the new CUPRA model will be integrated into our existing production structure by exploiting synergies between products and technologies. The preparations are mainly focused on our body shop. The first CUPRA “Made in Győr” will roll off our production lines in 2024. With my highly qualified team, we are already looking forward to the production of the new CUPRA SUV,” said Zoltán Les, board member in charge of vehicle manufacturing at Audi Hungaria.

The new CUPRA SUV model will be produced in Győr with different engine options, including mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid technologies. The PHEV version represents the next generation of plug-in hybrid technology, which enables a pure electric range of around 100 kilometers.
