38 million engines at Audi Hungaria

Győr, July 2020 17 - The employees of Audi Hungaria produced the 38,000,000th engine in Győr,
a four-cylinder 2.0-liter TFSI Global Engine, which was installed in an Audi Q3 model in the Audi Hungaria vehicle factory. The power unit belongs to the third generation of the engine family, it has been manufactured by Audi Hungaria since 2019, and it is the most powerful in its category, with 231 hp and 170 kW, offering customers a rich driving dynamics experience

"38 million engines - that's a huge volume.  Audi Hungaria is responsible for Global Engine engine family within the Group, which is a proof of the outstanding performance and expertise of our employees.  This responsibility means that the experts in Győr also support the production of the engine at other Group plants worldwide," said Thoralf Hanschel, Member of the Board of Management for Engine Production at Audi Hungaria.

 

Audi Hungary started engine production in 1994. The first engine in Győr was a four-cylinder five-valve power unit. Over the years, the portfolio of engine production has been continuously expanded with the introduction of newer engine types such as CNG engines and electric drives. By today, Audi Hungaria has developed into one of the largest engine factories in the world.The company currently employs 6,000 people who produce nine different engine families for the 28 vehicle plants of the Volkswagen Group.

With the 38 million engines completed, a total of around 6.6 billion hp has been put on the world's roads from Győr.
