Győr, 25 June 2019 – The building complex of the Higher Education and Industry Collaboration Centre (FIEK) has been opened on the campus of Széchenyi István University in Győr. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, mayor of the city of Győr Zsolt Borkai, rector of Széchenyi István University Dr. Péter Földesi, chancellor of Széchenyi István University Dr. Bálint Filep, member of the AUDI HUNGARIA Zrt. management board responsible for personnel matters and organisation Dr. Erzsébet Knáb, as well as chairman of AUDI HUNGARIA Zrt. board Achim Heinfling, symbolically opened the building complex. The facility comprises three main sections: the Management Campus, the Packaging and Environment Resistance Testing Laboratory and the new building of the Internal Combustion Engines and Vehicles Drives department.

“In time, Audi Hungaria recognised the strategic relevance of the university, and even at the time the company was founded, it considered long term collaboration to be one of the basic factors in success.  The institutional collaboration now established between research and development, education and industry will embody a development model oriented towards to the future by the Higher Education and Industry Collaboration Centre”, said Achim Heinfling, chairman of the AUDI HUNGARIA Zrt. board. “The establishment of the Higher Education and Industry Collaboration Centre raises our partnership with Széchenyi István University to a new level”, added Achim Heinfling.

“The Hungarian economy is in a state of changing dimensions, when we transform from production centred economy to research and development orientated economy. The successful change of dimensions is a basic prerequisite for guaranteeing trained experts. Representing a world-class standard, the Higher Education and Industrial Collaboration Centre will implement development and education projects based on the true needs of the automotive industry, and applied studies”, said Péter Szijjártó, minister of foreign economy and foreign affairs for Hungary.

Establishment of the facility stimulates the implementation of schemes and research projects with innovative goals in collaboration between industry, science and the city.

The modern building of the Management Campus provides a collaboration platform for representatives of industry and science, with content promoting competitive and innovation capabilities in small and large enterprises.

In the new building of the Internal Combustion Engines and Vehicles Drives Department, electromotor test benches are being installed with peak technology, as well as a turbocharger test bench and a high dynamics internal combustion engine test bench. Several laboratories have found a home here, which serve the research and development requirements of the premium manufacturer. The future product portfolio of Audi Hungaria was a deciding factor when designing the laboratories, where a highly trained research team will support Audi Hungaria product development. The Packaging and Environment Resistance Testing Laboratory is a packaging testing lab equipped to a world standard, which is unique in Central Europe, and provides an up to date research locality with solutions in line with international standards. Audi Hungaria is one of the lab ’s important clients.

Some research projects are underway in the Higher Education and Industry Collaboration Centre, which were launched arm in arm with Audi Hungaria. These are friction and emissions tests, studies on virtual reality based solutions in the automotive industry, as well as mathematics research.

The close, strategic collaboration between the Győr university and the four ring company is unique, thanks to which training is underway to a high professional standard in eight departments, partly in the context of the recent, practice-oriented dual higher educational training.
