Budapest, 3 March, 2017 – AUDI HUNGARIA Zrt. has won the Vocational Training Award from the German-Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DUIHK) for the second time. On the award ceremony held yesterday, the company’s dual vocational training system received accolades in the “Innovation” category for introducing two additional vocations, namely alternative powertrain technician and automotive maintenance technician. The purpose of the award is to encourage development of the Hungarian vocational training system and elevate recognition of the vocations. The award was presented by Péter Cseresnyés, Minister of State for the Labour Market and Training; Dr Manfred Peter Emmes, Minister of the Embassy of Germany; and Tamás Bihall, Vice President of the Hungarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Education and Vocational Training.

“We’re extremely proud of the award, which recognises our dual vocational training system. The system plays a key role in our human resources strategy and should satisfy our need for experts over the long term,” said Dr Erzsébet Knáb, Member of the Board of Management for Human Resources. “The Vocational Training Award established by the DUIHK is a fantastic initiative that enhances the recognition of practical training programmes in Hungary and gives impetus to establishing new vocational fields that look toward the future.”

The DUIHK presented awards in three categories: “Motivation”, “Cooperation” and “Innovation”. In the “Innovation” category, the professional jury declared the “Solutions to the challenges of Industry 4.0: new vocations in the automotive industry” Audi Hungaria project the winner. The company developed two new vocational training programmes, which have already been introduced in-house and at Audi Hungaria partner schools. The alternative powertrain technician and automotive maintenance technician vocations were established to provide apprentices with the competencies necessary for working with new technologies and processes. The project also made the training programme available for other economic operators and training institutions.

Audi Hungaria won its first DUIHK Vocational Training Award in 2014 (also in the “Innovation” category) for its project establishing learning stations in the production environment.

Audi Hungaria has been providing dual vocational training since 2001, enabling students to familiarise themselves with advanced manufacturing technologies and equipment at the training centre with the help of experts.

The training centre, with a floor space of 11,000 square metres, is equipped with robot chambers and IT training rooms, as well as cutting-edge laboratories and special training rooms for teaching everything the apprentices need to know about electronics, pneumatics, powertrain technologies, vehicle diagnostics, bodywork technologies and vehicle technologies. The apprentices can also learn the tricks of their future trade side-by-side with production experts at the learning stations set up near the production lines.

For years, the company has maintained a successful cooperation with the Lukács Sándor Mechatronics and Mechanical Engineering Vocational School, the Pattantyús Ábrahám Géza Technical Secondary School and the Kossuth Lajos Secondary School and Hall of Residence, operated by the Győr Service-Related Vocational Training Centre.

Since 2001, more than 1,800 apprentices have completed their vocational training, and most of them launched their career at the engine and vehicle manufacturing company.
