8 September 2015, Győr – AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. expands its competencies and increases logistics areas: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, Mayor of Győr Zsolt Borkai and Chairman of the Board of Management ofAudi Hungaria Dr. h.c. Thomas Faustmann have inaugurated the company’s new Logistics Centre and together, they sent the first parts on their way to the production lines of Audi Hungaria.
“Our new Logistics Centre is another milestone of recent years’ consistent development of logistics infrastructure which allows us the use of flexible, efficient and sustainable processes for the future. The new OEM engine parts production department, which will manufacture spare parts, is another important competency supplementing engine production at Audi Hungaria”, Chairman of the Board of Managementof Audi Hungaria Dr. h.c. Thomas Faustmann said.
“We also want to set new standards in the field of energy supply. The power supply of the new building will be provided by completely carbon neutral heat and electricity”, Faustmann added. To ensure this, we will put Hungary’s largest industrial photovoltaic system into operation. This way, the company can cover the entire electricity supply of the new Logistics Centre with renewable energy.
Once construction work is completed, the hall and the associated office, social and technical areas will cover a surface area of over 80 000 square meters. In the future, a newly built rail connection will ensure rail transport from the logistics centre in Ingolstadt. This will relieve local traffic to a great extent. As regards the proportions, it is around the same amount of finished goods reaching the company via rail as on the road. 150 trucks can be loaded and unloaded in the parking space built next to the new centre.
OEM engine parts production further expands the competencies of Audi Hungaria. OEM parts that are necessary for engine production will be manufactured on 8 000 square meters, and will be shipped as spare parts to car dealers across the globe.
A new bridge and another goods receipt hall will complete the newest step forward in the development of the logistics infrastructure. Once the commissioning phase is completed, altogether 700 employees will work in the new Logistics Centre.
