Audi Hungaria: a Successful First Half

• Over a million engines and 84,000 automobiles between January and the end of June

Győr, 30 July 2015 — AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. has closed the first half of 2015 with success: more engines and vehicles were produced, and the revenue was 11.7% higher than it was in the same period a year earlier.At the same time, Audi Hungaria pursued more intense research and development activity in Győr. At the end of June, more employees were working at the company than ever before.

With 1,067,525 engines produced (in the same period of last year, this figure was 1,066,236), Audi Hungaria has closed the first six-month period of the business year with success. In the first half, the Győr factory manufactured approximately816,965 (809,252) four- and five-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, 227,952 (233,440) six-cylinder and 22,608 (23,534) eight- and ten-cylinder engines, which were delivered to more than 30 Volkswagen group bases.

In the area of vehicle production, 84,888(66,640) automobiles came off the production lines, including 14,353 (7,895) Audi TT Coupé and 4,582 (2,411) TT Roadster models, and 53,700 (45,578) A3 Limousine and 12,253 (10,756) A3 Cabriolet models. Two years after implementing a high vertical range of production (including the press shop, the body shop, the paint shop and the assembly shop), the plant is using a high percentage of its capacity on an ongoing basis.

“In the first half of 2015, we have reached the highest production volume so far, since the company was established. Furthermore, we were pleased to introduce several innovations in the areas of engine and vehicle production”, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria Dr. h.c. Thomas Faustmann said. “Thanks to our motivated team, we continued the progress of the past years and reached new milestones in the history of the group.”

The revenue of AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. has come to 4,147 (3,712) million Euros in the first half. The company has invested 235 (289) million euros in Győr; i.a. into engine development: this department was enhanced with a new building and engine-testing equipment. 

On 30 June 2015, there were 11,342 employees working at the engine and vehicle factory, which means a 5.3 % rise compared to the figure from last year (10,774). With the Audi Hungaria Vehicle Engineering faculty, which was established at the Széchenyi István University, the Company ensures a continuous supply of qualified workforce and facilitates the transfer of scientific knowledge. Another significant project in cooperation with the University, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the City of Győr was the establishment of the Center of Automotive Research and Technology.
