Győr, 11 May 2015 – A new building has been added to AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft.’s Engine Development Centre as Dr. h.c. Thomas Faustmann, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria, and Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, gave the green light to the engine testing equipment in the new building today. In the future the staff of the Engine Development Centre will be able to test and examine engines on twelve engine test benches, of which six have already been installed. By creating the mirror image of the existing building, the company has expanded the area of its Engine Development Centre by 1,600 square meters.

“By expanding the Engine Development Centre, Audi Hungaria consistently invests in developing innovative solutions. Thereby we will expand the competences of the Győr site in the long run “, said Dr. h.c. Thomas Faustmann, Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria. “Innovative solutions and forward looking technologies are vital for the success of the entire company. In the spirit of our slogan “Vorsprung durch Technik “ (“Advancement through technology”), the continuous improvement of competitiveness in engine and vehicle manufacturing at the Győr site is an element of our long-term corporate strategy.“

The building project started in 2013. In the first stage of expansion, six new engine test benches were installed. The new test benches will enable the experts of Audi Hungaria to test the whole range of engines from four to twelve cylinders.

The Engine Development Centre engages in a wide variety of business including development activities in support of mass production and the support of the phase-in of new engine types. Currently, 209 development engineers and staff members are working on different projects, such as friction optimisation, engine acoustics tests and the development of new engine versions. So far engines have been tested on 14 benches, including ten engine test benches, two friction performance test benches, one inclining unloaded test bench and one air conditioning test bench. The Engine Development Centre’s equipment is now complete with a workshop with cutting edge technology. With the expansion of engine development, the company will create further capacities to engine testing, also for other group sites.

The field of engine development offers attractive jobs and a long-term career opportunity to highly qualified engineers.
