Győr, 18 February 2015 – The more than 10 years old collaboration between AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. and Széchenyi István University of Győr has reached a new milestone. The newly established Audi Faculty provides an institutionalized framework for the educational, professional and scientific collaboration between lecturers and Audi Hungaria's corporate experts, and also for supporting the region's industry.

"The long-term supply of engineers is a major element of our human resource strategy", said Dr. Elisabeth Knab, Member of the Board of Management for Human Resources at Audi Hungaria. "By establishing this faculty, engineering students can obtain state-of-the-art technical and technological knowledge in practice which helps them meet the requirements immediately and perform work efficiently right after they start working. I am convinced that the establishment of the Audi Faculty will efficiently support us in reaching this goal." The dual higher educational system in Győr is an excellent model for the collaboration between the business sector and higher education.

Over the last decades, this dual form of education has become widespread across Germany and has been adopted by tens of thousands of companies – including small and medium-sized businesses. The dual educational system that follows the German example is an extension of university studies which helps the students put their academic knowledge into practice in a real industrial environment. The new faculty, as a base of the Hungarian dual higher educational system, contributes to the nation-wide adoption of practice-oriented education. The experts of Audi Hungaria directly participate in education and in scientific work.

"It is our university's goal to perform well in international competition with this future-oriented initiative. Our close relationship with Audi Hungaria significantly contributes to this. At the faculty, serving as an educational and scientific basis, we would like to achieve the highest-level practice-oriented vehicle engineering education in the wider region, thus increasing the added value of the production of the region's vehicle industry for the long term", emphasized Dr. Péter Földesi, Rector of Széchenyi István University.

The Audi Hungaria Faculty of Vehicle Engineering includes the Department of Internal Combustion Engines, the Department of Vehicle Manufacturing, the Department of Vehicle Development, the Department of Material Science and Technology, the Department of Environmental Engineering and the Department of Logistics and Forwarding. Dr. Barna Hanula, associate professor and manager of Audi Hungaria responsible for scientific relations was appointed as the dean of the Faculty.
