Audi Hungaria on the path of growth

Győr, 01 August 2014 – AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. closes a successful first half-year: the company further continued its positive growth of recent years with 1 066 236 (1 019 595) engines produced. 66 640 (13 416) cars left the assembly lines of the car factory since the beginning of 2014. All in all, Audi Hungaria generated revenues of € 3 712 million. With investments that reached a combined value of € 289 million, Audi Hungaria continued its investment activities at the production site in Győr. With this, Audi Hungaria’s overall investment reached a total of € 7 024 million since its founding. By the 30th of June the engine and car producer employed a staff of 10 774 (9 393). Next to the Audi A3 Sedan and Audi A3 Cabriolet models, Audi Hungaria recently started the series production of the new, third generation Audi TT in its new car factory.

“Yet again we look back at a successful first half-year, which is characterized by dynamic growth in both engine and car production”, said Thomas Faustmann, Chairman of the Board of Management at Audi Hungaria. “Together as a team we managed to master even the hardest challenges of the past few months: series production of the A3 Sedan and the A3 Cabriolet run at full capacity and we managed to start the series production of the third generation TT Coupé with similar success. With this, Audi Hungaria makes an enormous contribution to the global growth strategy of the AUDI Group.”
Engine production shined with 809 252 (775 991) produced four- and five-cylinder gas and diesel engines, 233 440 (220 794) six-cylinder engines and 23 544 (22 810) eight-, ten- and twelve-cylinder engines. Since June, AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. also proudly produces the new, innovative “clean diesel” generation of the V6 3.0 TDI engine. In the first half-year, the company produced 66 640 (13 416) cars, 7 895 (7 925) of which were Audi TT Coupé, 2 411 (2 456) TT Roadster, 45 578 (402) A3 Sedan and 10 756 (2 633) A3 Cabriolet models.

In the first half-year AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. generated revenues of € 3 712 (2 796) million. The company invested € 289 (335) million in the Hungarian production site. Most of the investment was targeted at the extension of the car factory, at the expansion of capacities in engine production and at research and development activities. With this, the company invested a total of € 7 024 million since its founding.

By the 30th of June, the company employed a staff of 10 774. Since the start of the year, 796 qualified employees were hired. The engine and car producer’s attractiveness and popularity remain unchallenged: in autumn Audi Hungaria was awarded Hungary’s “most attractive employer” award for the sixth time in a row.

In 2014, AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. supported numerous projects in the region, for example the expansion of the Győr-Pér airport. Thanks to the investment airplanes such as the Boeing 737 and the Airbus A320 will be able to land at the expanded airport. The company is the name-giving sponsor of the new, multifunctional Audi Aréna Győr sports centre. With these investments, the engine and car producer actively contributes to the region’s development in the fields of culture and sport.
