Győr, 1 July 2014 - As of July 1 2014, Herbert Steiner (41) will take over the position of Managing Director for Engine Production at AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. from Achim Heinfling. Steiner switches from the Barcelona SEAT Componentes (previously Gearbox del prat, S.A. ) to the Győr engine production facility. The engineer-economist has been working for the Volkswagen Group for 17 years in various positions, and spent 9 years at AUDI AG in Ingolstadt.

"Herbert Steiner is an experienced manager in production, and has been tied to Audi for many years. He has the knowledge to successfully continue the expansion of Győr engine production," said Dr. Hubert Waltl, AUDI Board Member for Production.

"Audi Hungaria is the world's largest engine production plant" said Prof. h. c. Thomas Sigi, AUDI Board Member for Human Resources. "Herbert Steiner will continue this success story with his many years of international experience."

Steiner was born in Austria; he is an engineer-economist in the field of machinery and energy technology, and graduated from Graz technical university. He started his career in 1997 in the Brazilian production plant of Volkswagen; then in 1999 he switched to the AUDI AG in Ingolstadt where he worked in various controlling, financial and purchasing positions. In 2002 Steiner took over the position of Assistant Board Member for Procurement, and then in 2004 became the leader of the field of procurement strategies and systems.

In 2006, the now 41-year-old Steiner switched to the SEAT S.A. plant in Martorell, where he was the office manager of the management office for 4 years. Since 2010 Steiner had been the managing director of the Seat Componentes (former Gearbox del prat, S.A.) transmission manufacturing plant.
Herbert Steiner takes over the position of Managing Director for Engine Production from Achim Heinfling, who will return to Ingolstadt and will be the leader of the field of engines/aggregates production planning.
Dr. Hubert Waltl thanks Achim Heinfling for his many years of dedicated and successful work. Under his leadership, engine manufacturing has undergone significant development and the serial production of more than 100 new engines has commenced. Today some two million engines are produced on the Győr production lines every year. Thus, the growth of the product range and the depth of engine manufacturing are closely linked to him. During his years of dedicated work, Audi Hungaria became the world's largest engine production plant.
