Audi Hungaria further expands engine development centre

Győr, 25 June 2014 – Roofing ceremony in the Engine Development Centre of the AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft.: with the expansion of the existing engine testing centre the company increases the area dedicated to engine development by over 1,600 square meters. The complex will allow the placement of a total of 12 new test-benches.

"The enlargement of the engine development unit is another futuristic project of Audi Hungaria," said Thomas Faustmann, Chairman of the Board of Management of the Audi Hungaria. "Innovations and futuristic technologies are essential for the success of our company. Optimal development possibilities are crucial in order to guarantee advancement through technology in the Győr engine and automobile factory."

Construction works started last year. The new test-benches are expected to be commissioned in early 2015. Six new test-benches will be installed in the first stage with technical and warehouse facilities. The new engine testing benches will allow the performance, emission and noise level testing of all engines - ranging from 4-cylinder up to 12-cylinder engines.
Production-related development activities such as the support of the run up of manufacturing in series and new products have been defining activities of the engine development that has been in operation since 2001. Currently, 187 engineers and staff members are working on various development projects, such as friction optimization, engine acoustics examinations and the development of engine variants. At the moment, the area has 14 heavy duty test-benches, 10 engine and 2 friction testing benches, an apparatus capable of testing off-road operation, and a climate testing bench. Besides the test-benches, a high-tech workshop is also available. With this project the company further increases its engine-testing capabilities.
