New managing director at Audi Hungaria

• The new managing director for vehicle production takes office on 1 September
• His predecessor, Ulrich Minke takes early retirement

Gerd Walker takes over as the new managing director for vehicle production at AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. Walker comes to the Hungarian subsidiary from AUDI AG in Ingolstadt. With a degree in mechanical engineering, he has been bolstering the ranks of AUDI AG for 14 years.

Gerd Walker was born in Reutlingen, Germany, in 1970. After completing his studies in mechanical engineering, he began his professional career at the concept planning department of AUDI AG in 1998.

From 2003 Walker has held various leading positions within the company. In the field of technical development he was responsible for the procurement and manufacturing of experimental parts and worked as the project manager of the pre-production centre (VSC). Later he was appointed project manager at assembly at the pilot production centre and took charge of the logistics and maintenance division of the virtual vehicle production plant. Between 2006 and 2009 he managed the pilot product department as well as the bodywork manufacturing product technology and exterior design sections. In 2009 he was appointed assistant to the Chairman of the Board of Directors responsible for production at Audi AG. 

Gerd Walker takes over the managing director’s duties from Ulrich Minke who takes early retirement. The company wishes to express its gratitude to Mr. Minke for his dedicated work on the plant development project in Győr.

Walker will be responsible for the implementation of the new vehicle production plant and the management of vehicle production.
