Audi Hungaria’s Experimental Motor Manufacturing Centre is extended

The management of Audi Hungaria held a foundation stone laying ceremony for the new building of the Experimental Motor Manufacturing Centre (MAC) yesterday. Within a year a new centre will be built, where the development and production activities related to experimental motors will be brought under one roof. With the new building complex, an investment of 2.5 billion forints will be realized in an area of 7,400 square metres.

The new centre is built in the immediate vicinity of the sites of engine development and production engineering. All areas related to experimental motor manufacturing will be located in one building, and new features will be built as well, which will cover the whole process of the running-up of serial production. This includes coordination, mechanical processing, production, quality management, as well as analysis and logistics activities. The goal is the development of new engines into a production-ready stage and the optimization of their production processes.

“Due to the activities of the Experimental Motor Manufacturing Centre, the new engines can get to production in an ideal state necessary for serial production. Through this we improve our products and processes. At the same time, the work of the new centre expands our competency in the area of engine production,” said Achim Heinfling, Managing Director responsible for production at Audi Hungaria.

There are currently 40 employees working at Audi Hungaria’s Experimental Motor Manufacturing Centre. Until spring 2012, MAC will be taking on a further 30 employees – highly qualified engineers, technicians and equipment operators.

The Experimental Motor Manufacturing Centre began its operation in 2010. Since then, besides the production of serial engines, the assembling, analyzing and optimizing of experimental motors take place in Győr as well at AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft. The professional expertise of the highly trained staff is also well appreciated in the Volkswagen Group.
